Conversation: Arundhati Roy on the “I” in BRICS

We quite often get caught up in a whirlwind of geopolitics, popular sentiment, personal hopes and sheer desire to finally see someone stand up to the status quo. What we forget in these moments is that life is almost never that simple.

India is not just a great land mass but also one that has been grossly mismanaged for many reasons, the root of some are in its very creation. It is celebrated as the “world’s biggest democracy” but seldom do we stop and think about the majority for whom nothing ever really changed.

The current Prime Minister, Narendra Modhi, does in fact hail from a Hindu Nationalist party whose cadres are quite the opposite of what might be found on the left in any shape or form.

Arundhati eloquently presents to us not just the status quo of Indian affairs but the key driving force behind it.

  1. Attention to all German users:

To all users who might reach this site looking out, for what might have happend to the (German Version).
Today I just left for an hour to do some shoping. When I returned I could not enter the German Version any more.

“site not found” was the only message available. I even tried it many times without any other results on this.

It looks like the provider has shut down the German Version, whatever the cause might have been as they did a few days ago with the French Version also.

Is there anybody from the German Version, like Mrs. Schmelzer to find out what happened in the meantime ?
The German Version was working until 6 pm MET without any problem and cant be reached after this time any more.

As a matter of fact the Russian and Oceanic Version are left the only ones still working at thr timr being.

  2. Oh, c’mon…, the Russians did it!!!!!

“The systems have proved effective at downing Ukrainian aircraft and were also involved in the tragic downing of Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17. ” – LINK

‘Business Insider’ [wink, wink, nudge, nudge] doesn’t need [or provide any] proof or evidence.

I hope that BRICs house is refurbished and unleashed onto the market sooner rather than later.

  3. Can you please have a diversity of voices regarding articles on India? Arundhati Roy in no way is representative of actual Indian views, neither does she ever think outside of her narrow Marxist perspective. The Saker is always respectful of Russian, Chinese and other national views keeping in mind their civilisational difference – I’d like to see the same for India.

    1. By definition her views cannot be Indian views. They are an Indian’s views. She is an Indian for pities sake.

Thereafter I agree. Let us have more Views from India. Like Africa it is a culture raped and degraded by English and the more Indians speak out the more they will take ownership of their history back from the bloody (no swearing) and conceited English who are the model for the claim their US kind made for the massacre at My Lai; that it was ‘to save them’. These English people now fondly hope to rape and degrade Russia the same way, but of course they seek to have others do it for them.
Believe me, as an African living and studying in China I vouch for the truth that this claim echoes and re echoes throughout the history of the last 400yrs. The Anglo- Saxon identity is a buccaneer identity and the sooner this inescapable truth is written into all history the sooner we will stop the wars they have always started and the killing they fund and instigate. Their gravestone must have the legend Divide and Rule and Steal in the Name of Father Son and the Holy Spirit.
