No one in Western corporate media will tell you why US President Barack Obama is hitting Riyadh with a high-powered delegation to “pay his respects” to the new House of Saud potentate, King Salman.

Talk about a who’s who – including CIA head John Brennan; General Lloyd Austin, head of US Centcom; Secretary of State John Kerry; leading House Democrat Nancy Pelosi; and even senile Senator John “Bomb Iran” McCain.

It must have been heart wrenching for most in this crowd to skip a visit to the Taj Mahal in India so they would be part of the last-minute, “unscheduled” stop in Riyadh.

This is how the astonishing mediocrity that doubles as US Deputy National Security Adviser Ben Rhodes, spun it; “Principally, I think this is to mark this transition in leadership and to pay respects to the family and to the people of Saudi Arabia, but I’m sure that while we’re there they’ll touch on some of the leading issues where we cooperate very closely with Saudi Arabia.”

Caliph Against the Wall

10888397_10152998476896678_6269096325461677125_n

France is deploying aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle to the Persian Gulf to “support” bombing ISIS/ISIL/Daesh in Iraq. French defense minister Jean Yves Le-Drain has gone totally war on terra saying, “ISIS must be wiped out.”

Meanwhile, the House of Saud is building a 600-mile-long Great Wall – five layers of fencing with watchtowers, night-vision cameras, radar + ditch – to isolate Saudi Arabia from Iraq.

ISIS/ISIL/Daesh control some patches of desert on the Iraqi side. Assorted Caliph goons have already stated that they will go all the way to Mecca and Medina.

General Hollande, for his part, has said that, “thanks to the Charles de Gaulle we will have intelligence … we may also conduct operations in Iraq.”

Right. So how about parking the Charles de Galle in the desert right by the Great Wall for perfect ground intel?

Meanwhile, the House of Saud keeps merrily beheading. The video of the beheading of a woman has been banned on YouTube. Not fair. If the Caliph can do it, why not the House?

The statements, views and opinions expressed in this column are solely those of the author and do not necessarily represent those of Oceania Saker.

What game is the House of Saud playing?, by Pepe Escobar

pepe2
Reuters / Todd Korol

The House of Saud now finds itself in times of extreme trouble. Their risky oil price war may eventually backfire. The succession of King Abdullah may turn into a bloodbath. And the American protector may be musing a change of heart.

Let’s start with oil – and some background. As much as US supply has increased by a couple of million barrels a day, enough oil from Iran, Kirkuk in Iraq, Libya and Syria has gone out of production; and that offsets extra US oil on the market. Essentially, the global economy – at least for the moment – is not searching for more oil because of European stagnation/recession and the relative China slowdown.

Since 2011, Saudi Arabia has been flooding the market to offset the decrease in Iran exports caused by the US economic war, a.k.a. sanctions. Riyadh, moreover, prevented OPEC from reducing country production quotas. The House of Saud believes it can play the waiting game – as fracked oil, mostly American, is inexorably driven out of the market because it is too expensive. After that, the Saudis believe they will regain market share.

In parallel, the House of Saud is obviously enjoying “punishing” Iran and Russia for their support of Bashar Assad in Damascus. Moreover, the House of Saud is absolutely terrified of a nuclear deal essentially between the US and Iran (although that’s still a major “if”) – leading to a long-term détente.

Grisly Peshawar Slaughter – Who Created Taliban, Who Still Funds Them?, by Tony Cartalucci

Pakattack

December 16, 2014 (Tony Cartalucci – LD) Taliban militants stormed an army public school in the northern city of Peshawar, killing over 100, including many young students. It is believed up to 10 militants took part in the attack, dressed as soldiers to first infiltrate the school’s grounds before beginning the attack.

While the details of the attack are forthcoming, the background of the Taliban and the persistent threat it represents is well established, though often spun across the Western media.

Who Put the Taliban into Power? Who is Funding them Now?

In the 1980’s the United States, Saudi Arabia, and elements within the then Pakistani government funneled millions of dollars, weapons, equipment, and even foreign fighters into Afghanistan in a bid to oust Soviet occupiers. Representatives of this armed proxy front would even visit the White House, meeting President Ronald Reagan personally.

The Syrian-Russian pact in Sochi: Putin,Lavrov & Mu’allem meet

SYRPER EXCLUSIVE: WHAT LAVROV IS TELLING MU’ALLEM; WHAT MU’ALLEM IS TELLING PUTIN AND LAVROV

MuallimLavrov

The Foreign Minister and Minister for Expatriates of the Syrian Arab Republic, Mr. Waleed Al-Mu’allim, is in Sochi to meet with Russian President, Vladimir Putin, and Russian F.M., Sergei Lavrov.  The meeting is face-to-face which required the Syrian top diplomat to fly to Russia.  You can assume that the reasons for the trip have to do with secrecy, confidential exchanges of information and the need to prevent Western eavesdropping.  This meeting could be the most important of the entire war in Syria.

Pay no attention to press conferences or summaries offered up by both sides to the talks at the end.  This meeting is not about publicity or orotund denunciations of terrorism.  Both countries have staked out clear positions on ISIS, American meddling and the incessant violations of international law by the West, its troglodyte Arabian allies, and the Zionist Apartheid State.

Russia remains mildly interested in a negotiated end to the fighting in Syria which will see Dr. Assad continue his stewardship for at least another 7 years but which might involve a reconfiguration of the Syrian governmental structure so as to accommodate new elements from the expatriate opposition.  The Russians have to know with whom Damascus would negotiate and whom Damascus fiercely rejects.  Neither the Syrians nor the Russians will brook any surprises.

The Syrian FM is there to give them a list of groups and personalities Damascus finds acceptable in order to have a realistic political framework in which to negotiate.  My readers already appear to sense that Ahmad Mu’aadh Al-Khateeb (Al-Hasani), a former head of NACOSROF, will be on the short list especially in light of recent pronouncements he has made in support of the Assad Administration and its fight against terrorism.  Al-Khateeb is important because of his religious affiliations; he hails from a wealthy clerical Damascene class whose Sunni credentials are impeccable and deeply rooted in the life of the capital.

Has Washington just shot itself in the oily foot?, by William Engdahl

US_Saudi_Oil

(William Engdahl – NEO) – By now even the New York Times is openly talking about the secret Obama Administration strategy of trying to bankrupt Russia by using its oil-bloated Bedouin bosom buddy, Saudi Arabia, to collapse the world price of oil. However, it’s beginning to look like the neo-conservative Russia-haters and Cold war wanna-be hawks around Barack Obama may have just shot themselves in their oily foot. As I referred to it in an earlier article, their oil price strategy is basically stupid. Stupid, as all consequences have not been taken into account. Take now the impact on US oil production as prices plummet.

The collapse in US oil prices since September may very soon collapse the US shale oil bubble and tear away the illusion that the United States will surpass Saudi Arabia and Russia as the world’s largest oil producer. That illusion, fostered by faked resource estimates issued by the US Department of Energy, has been a lynchpin of Obama geopolitical strategy.

Now the financial Ponzi scheme behind the increase of US domestic oil output the past several years is about to evaporate in a cloud of fictitious smoke. The basic economics of shale oil production are being ravaged by the 23% oil price drop since John Kerry and Saudi King Abdullah had their secret meeting near the Red Sea in early September to agree on the Saudi oil price war against Russia.

Is the CIA’s ISIS Cult Already Collapsing in Iraq?,by William Engdahl

This is perhaps the most eloquently explained and presented summary on the whole ISIS topic and is 100% in line with what we understand reality to be regarding “Islamic terrorism”.

Coincidentally,as this story was being published, Don Debar, host of the Morning Show at CPR News, highlighted an interesting story out of Turkey about a nurse claiming to be sick of helping wounded IS “moderate rebels”.

Radio host Don Debar added: ” ISIS is officially designated by US as a terrorist group. This hospital is in Turkey. Turkey is a member of NATO. NATO is harboring and giving material aid to terrorists. Its American members are subject to US law.”

IS is the latest, most ferocious paper tiger put up by the US to usher in a new era of regime change, chaos and destruction or in other words the “War on Terror”.

Our last piece on the subject, by Tom Mysiewicz, gives more insight into the possible strategic aims project Caliphate 2.0 (IS) fulfils.

NEO

Since the early 1950’s, when the CIA station chief in Munich became aware of the effective use of radical Jihadist Sunni Muslims from the Soviet Union by Gerhard von Mende’s wartime Ostministerium, US intelligence has sought to use the fanaticism of radical Islamists to its advantage. In my latest book I call it, “Amerikas Heiliger Krieg.” The alliance of nominally Christian American forces with nominally Muslim Salafists to kill and destroy was justified with a peculiar American brand of self-appointed Holy Mission. In reality the alliance between CIA and radical Islam was never holy. The events surrounding ISIS demonstrate.

The CIA’s creation of Sunni Mujahideen “freedom fighters” in Afghanistan after 1979, with the essential aid of a Saudi named Osama bin Laden to drive the Red Army from Afghanistan was but the beginning of decades-long covert manipulation of Holy War Muslim fanatics to wage active war as surrogates for the geopolitical agenda of certain Washington circles. The Muslim fighters were sometimes purely mercenary, sometimes devout Salafists or Wahhabite Sunnis. The main point for the backers in Washington was that the Juhadists killed the right “enemy.”

WAR WITH ISIS: MULTIPLEXING A NEW WORLD ORDER, by Tom Mysiewicz

This is an entertaining read and a rather fresh approach to the whole ISIS situation.

We would like to point out to the readers that this piece has been queued for publication for some time and in that space one of Tom’s predictions regarding forces being deployed due to the “Ebola outbreak” has materialized.

Tom is a shrewd observer, analyst and opinion maker. Read more from behind the lines, behind the editorials abound and ponder on the wider game.

AE

President Obama’s speech announcing war with ISIS  has been hailed in the non-mainstream press as a harbinger of war with Syria,  paving the way for an assault on Lebanon and Iran.  (I would add to that mix the creation of what I call “Israeli Kurdistan” from Iraq and a portion of Turkey[i], dispossession of Palestinians and expulsion of Gaza residents into the Sinai and further expansion of Eretz or greater Israel as the future seat of AngloZionist world government.[ii])

The more farsighted see in Obama’s war announcement and in the ISIS Caliph’s almost simultaneous threats to attack Russia an even more sinister motive of reinstating the Reagan-era mujahedeen and Bush-Clinton-era Chechen state-sponsored terrorism against the former Soviet Union and then Russia.  (Not surprisingly, Saudi Arabia, which was heavily involved in funding and proselytizing both of the aforementioned terrorist enterprises, was similarly involved in the creation of ISIS/ISIL.)

While no one has mentioned it, the sheer blatant nature of Mr. Obama’s call for an illegal aggressive war on Syria—without Congressional approval (especially after the 2013 Russian-brokered Syrian peace deal) can be seen as a bare-faced provocation.  One rubber stamped by Vice President Kerry.  Could the Russians be persuaded to make a bad chess move, sacrificing either Syria or Ukraine?

Islamic State & the war in Ukraine

This small (4 minute) interview with Sharmine Narwani is an excellent analysis of the US re-invasion of Iraq.

The Ukrainian Junta and IS are monsters of western creation, with the IS (Islamic State) being a partnership with gulf arab states. Both further US strategic interests:

1) In Ukraine the objective is to install a permanent state of war in Russia’s backyard and any criticism of the regime will be blacked out. The eventual target is of course destruction of Russia.

2) In the Middle East the objective is to break up Iraq into 3 pieces, install a permanent state of war and to weaken Syria,Lebanon & Iran. All three countries can resolve this crisis on their own. Hence the artificial hollywood line up of executions to promote direct US involvement. They could not have Iran,Syria,Lebanon (with Russian assistance) kill their demon baby (Islamic State).

Prognosis: US failure as the “coalition of the unwilling tyrants” has no appetite for war on both fronts;

1) Europe is living a nightmare it cannot be woken out of, even a defeat militarily (though NATO intervention is highly unlikely) would be welcome relief. The latest ceasefire is a farce and an outcome of Russia’s own 5th column that has been limiting a quick resolution since day one. Putin is not almighty as many believe. This situation will keep developing and eventually should lead to a purge in the Russian government apparatus. It is highly unlikely that the US will succeed in its long term objectives, it has however underscored short term wins in Ukraine. Almost all of Ukraine has been either sold off or is in the process.

2)In the Middle East the new demon baby (after Israel of course) is running loose but that may have been the intention afterall. For the US to keep its “allies” in check. The US strategic aim is again a permanent state of war not peace. The gulf arab contribution to the creation of IS is irrelevant as they have obviously not thought this one through. There is no way the gulf arab states can defend themselves against battle hardened guerrillas. For a moment consider how they have not once defended themselves in recent history.

A key litmus test, of the direction of the US campaign, would be Syria’s reaction to US attacks on its forces. This will most likely happen as the US did not get the chance last year, remember they still want regime change in Syria. That is still the plan.
